20 weeks pregnant, 11cm complex ovarian cyst?
Hi there – I am 20 weeks pregnant and an 11cm cyst was found on my left ovary at my 11 week scan, and was still present and unchanged at 19 weeks. The report said it appears to be a complex cyst with septations with normal ovarian tissue on the side. My OBGYN is repeating the u/s in one week, and has sent me for CA125. I have a history of simple cysts that have always dissolved on their own. Never this size though, and never complex. I am terrified that this is a malignant process. Does anyone have any similar experience to share?

Wow, 11cm. I had an 8.5 one (benign) removed once, but I wasn’t pregnant.
I know this probably isn’t going to help much, but you should try not to be terrified. They are probably going to wait until after you deliver to remove this. Just ask your doctor a LOT of questions. He/she can tell you all the things this might be related to other than cancer. Try not to dwell on the worst-case scenario, because that’s probably not where you are.
Well I know what a cyst feels like. I’ve recently have had 2 ruptured ovarian cysts and they do not feel good. The first one was a small one and then second one that happened 2 weeks ago was estimated to about 1/4 – 2/4 the size of my ovary. After the second one, I had a UTI because of the fluid and a yeast infection soon after that also because of the fluid. I now have to take a high dose of birth control to stop my period for 3 months so my ovary can heal so it won’t produce anymore cysts, or so they hope. Unfortunatly I can’t help with the pregnancy thing. But I’m sure your OBGYN is going to do the best thing for you and the baby. Good luck!
