Am I going through early menopause?
My period’s been pretty wonky for the last few months. It was light one month, heavy the next, and it’s about a week late this month.
I’ve also spotted a bit in between. Beside that, my eyes have been dry, I’ve been having mild hot flashes, and I’ve noticed that my skin has become thinner. I’m only twenty-four, and I haven’t had any major medical procedures. I have a family history of thyroid problems. Would any thyroid conditions cause these symptoms? I’ve had ovarian cysts, too, if it helps.
Infertility doesn’t really bother me, but growing old before my time does. Please help. ![]()

thyroid can totally do that. make sure you get it checked regularaly to make sure you arent getting thyroid storms (which can be leathal).
but, pre-menapause can start around 30 and last for years – so also find out about the history of the women in your family.
You should go to your ob/gyn and have them test your hormone levels. This will tell you if your estrogen levels are normal or if you might be in peri-menopause. It is not likely at your age, but possible.
i think you getting weird symptoms from the thyroid problem.
My mother was hyper thyroid when she was younger.
Now, she is hypo thyroid(too little).
So, go to the Dr, get a blood test done!Have the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone tested too!
I don’t think you have menopause.
Just a tip, if you go and get a blood test to check your thyroid dont just rely on the blood samples, ask for a ultrasound as well. I had blood tests for thyroid and they came back normal but ultrasound showed a growth on my thyroid which is making it not work very well. The bloods showed nothing.
Sounds more like thyroid problems rather than menopause. The menopause takes many months or years to kick in properly so unlikely to have happened this quickly. You should get thyroid function checked out.
I would go to your OB/GYN doctor but also contact a physician who specializes in menopausal treatments and things of that nature. BodylogicMD is a great resource as it is a network of physicians that look to better the symptoms felt during menopause and hormone imbalances. Weight gain, trouble sleeping, aging, hot flashes and nightsweats are just some of these symptoms. Here is a great resource for you:

I would also contact a physician who would be able to better assist you if you tell them your symptoms and family history. Hope it helps
