Three years ago, i had a complex ovarian cyst removed. The Dr. did not remove my ovary, and informed me at the time that the ovary had not been compromised in any way. Also, he confirmed I didn’t have any other issues (ex. endometriosis, etc.). I just went to the same Dr. yesterday for an exam and he told me because of my operation, I am limited to the amount of eggs I have (basically, if I want to have kids, I have to have them in the next two years.). I am 31, and I feel what he said made no sense. Does anyone know if having a complex ovarian cyst removed compromises fertility? I’ve never heard of such a thing, and I haven’t had any problems since. He also asked me if I was seriously dating anyone and refernced marriage which I thought was completely inappropriate.

My husband and I have been ttc for 1 year now. We are doing all the testing for infertility. This cycle I had a follicle study and was doing the OPKs. I never got a positive OPK so when I had my last appt with my OB she decided to do another vaginal ultrasound to make sure I released the egg. Well they found a 5cm cyst. Today, about 2 weeks later the cyst is 6cm. My doctor was out for the day and will be back tomorrow, but I am curious if anyone knows what they are going to suggest. I heard birth control, but I feel like that would be a step backward. Also I really want to do natural family planning after I have my first baby and don’t want to be on it.
Any suggestions?

Oh-the symptoms I am having are dull aching pain in my abdomen, and lower back pain. I have heard that I am not suppose to have sex until the cyst has shrunk or is gone, is that true?

I Just found out I’m pregnant. (5 weeks along) And something I am very concerned about, is that I have had ovarian cysts in the past and i have one on my right ovary as of right now (simple cyst) I am worried about Miscarrying or having an Ectopic pregnancy..Has anyone had/have ovarian cysts and gone through a healthy pregnancy (the first time) also What are the chances? I am definatly going to talk to my doctor in a few weeks when i’m due for my appointment but i was really concerned and thought I would ask your your guys’s insight as well. t

Like 2 years ago,I had a cyst in my right ovary. It gave me horrible pain to my side.I’m pretty sure its gone now since I no longer feel those pains,but I’m worried.
I have normal periods,and everything seems fine,but I’ve read that ovarian cysts can cause infertility.
Is there a chance I can be infertile?

A few months back my doctor told me I had a very small ovarian cyst on my left ovary (probably caused by my Mirena). They didn’t act very concerned about it and they didn’t give me any medicine for it. For months I’ve had minor pain there. I had my Mirena IUD taken out in July and since then I have been on the pill… which I also stopped taken last month.

I am just now having my first period without being on any kind of birth control. Anyway, when I took a nap this afternoon I woke up with terrible pain on the lower left side of my abdomen and then it started hurting the lower left side of my back.

Is it possible that my cyst ruptured? Should I be concerned or just let it run it’s course?

I would go to the doctor by I just lost my health insurance 3 days ago (figures) and it’ll probably be a few months before I can get it back. Help!

So I’m having serious pelvic pain. I thought maybe it was a bladder infection that I let go too long. I took one of those home tests, but it was negative.So the only other thing it must be my cysts acting up.
I’ve been to the Dr, but since it is my last ovary, they seem to be reluctant to remove it so I won’t go into early menopause, which I don’t want either.
But I’m torn; it really, REALLY hurts, and if I do have it removed, then I’ll feel like a wimp since the pain is too much. Plus the expense, and time off of work, and having to bother a friend for transportaion to the hospital ( then THEY would have to take time off of work, etc)
I just really don’t know what to do.
I’d really appreciate any advice.

I am 18yrs old and i just had surgery for the removal of a complex ovarian cyst that was larger than 13cm in diameter.
My dr said it is very unusual to have a cyst this large in someone so young and it had been sent for pathology tests. Is it likely to be cancerous?

my surgeon thought she would have to take out the ovary but mnaged to keep it in. however, she is unsure whether it is functional and i need it taken out if it is painful. also, she thought she was going to have to do a traditional open cut surgery – like a c-section – but managed to do a laproscopy with very large incisions

Hi everyone – My mom called me yesterday because she was in the hospital and I am extremely worried. For about 2 weeks she thought she had a UTI because of pain while peeing and not being able to empty.. she doesn’t have insurance so she bought store bought UTI medicine that didnt help – the pain got so bad she went to the ER, had blood tests which came back fine – but declined a CT scan and US because of the insurance issue… went back yesterday morning with extreme pain again – did CT and US which showed a 9 cm midline cyst (the size of a grapefruit) – It is so big that it was blocking her urethra which is why she couldn’t pee and felt she had a UTI- she sees the surgeon tomorrow and OB and they are going to do a biopsy.. but I am just soooo worried and would feel better if any with experience with this could give me some straight forward facts if anyone knows anything about ovarian cancer. She had a hystrectomy about 20 years ago but they just removed her uterus and not her ovaries. Thanks.

I recently went to the doctor as I had this sharp sting pain in my left side and feeling like I have a full bladder all the time. My doctor sent me for an ultrasound which revealed a 4.5cm complex haemorrhagic ovarian cyst on my left ovary. I have to go for another ultrasound in 6 weeks to see whether the cyst has gone away or not. In the meantime my doctor has prescribed some pain killers for me and has put me on the birth control pill to see whether the cyst would go away. I didn’t really want to go on the pill as a few years ago when I took it I became very emotional, moody, had lots of headaches and had no sex drive. I discussed this with my doctor and he advised that the birth control pill I used back then was a very strong pill and that the pill he prescribed to me now is not as strong. I have found out that taking birth control pills doesn’t guarantee that cysts would never return again, but are there any other ways or options to consider instead of having to take the pill?

I’m suffering from ovarian cyst for two years now. Tried a lot of varies treatments but very little of them used to help (birth control pills and others). I don’t wanna have surgery ’cause I’m pregnant and I don’t want take any medication. Please give an advice of some good solution on the internet to cure ovarian cysts during pregnancy!

Okay so I went to the hospital 2 weeks ago going on 3. I was diagnosed with complex ovarian cyst. So the next day I go to the ob/Gyn and he said there should be nothing to worry about that the cyst had ruptured and that’s why I was in so much pain that it will leave by itself fast since the fluid is coming out. Well I still have a lot of pain on my right side. Should I get a second opinion? He didn’t give me antibiotics. Was he suppose to? Please help me out. I just wanna know if I should take this seriously or wait till the pain goes away! Thanks!

i’m 17 and i’m scared what is happening to me.

I had my last period on the 31st of august. on saturday the 12th I started feeling slight nausea but i didnt think anything was wrong. On wednesday the 16th I got sharp cramps that felt like they were on my right ovary. the area hurts on and off and is still tender but but hurts less over time. the whole time i have been feeling slight nausea and also on friday my ankles started hurting. i threw up last night for the first time. today so far there hasnt been any nausea but i feel bloated.

i’ve never experienced anything like this before, especially during this time. occasionally i’ll get throbbing
pain around my ovaries when i have sex with my boyfriend (who has a very large and slightly curved penis) but it will stop within an hour. I only had comparable pain to this once but felt it immediately during sex. I threw up soon after from what i think was the pain.

my bf thinks i might have ovarian cysts but i’ve never felt this kind of pain before i started having sex with him 6 months ago. i know the pain after sex might be his size and shape but i normally never show any of the symptoms of ovarian cysts.

i don’t normally have pain halfway thru my cycle. i have never felt anything during ovulation, i have never even kept track of my ovulation. my period is inconsistent, sometimes it is 27 days other times it is 33 or more days.

after reading lots of stuff online about the nausea and the ovary cramps im starting to think im pregnant. i dont have any other symptoms except i was moody on thurs, no spotting, no sore breasts, no abnormal fatigue. recently my boyfriend has noticed my cm getting really thick. he says my cervix still feels soft and unplugged.

i am worried after reading the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy. for a while i have had a feeling that i am infertile. i used to have sex several times a day every day with my past 2 boyfriends, though i used condoms and spermicide. there were countless times that the condom broke and their semen got into my vagina. i was almost positive every single one of those times that i would get pregnant and i never did.

i have pretty heavy periods every month i can soak an entire thick pad in a few hours. this is another sign i’ve read about infertility.

i’m scared now after reading that ectopic pregnancies show pain on only one side. the worst part is that they can show up as negative on home tests and i won’t even know if i truly am pregnant. i am assuming the worst here, that im pregnant in the first place and that its ectopic. i’m afraid to wait until my period comes in 1.5~2 wks because i heard thats when the pain gets unbearable if its ectopic. I want answers asap
i wanna know if this is something planned parenthood can deal with.
right now i am 7-10 days pdo and im just so scared since i have never experienced any of this before.

I’ve had some problems with cervix / ovaries, which were discovered when I was pregnant. I don’t think any cysts were detected, but either way, I was recommended to come back for a check-up after I had my son. Well, I never did (I know, I know, bad idea), and my son is now 2.

For the past few months I have noticed my cervix feeling tender whenever I have sex. Positions that are normally enjoyable feel "too deep," like my cervix is being bumped, and I can only have shallow penetration, which is unusual. Then a few days ago, I was having sex and the same feeling occurred. We stopped for a moment because I said it hurt, but the pain did not subside, it just intensified. For a good 20 minutes I was curled in a ball sobbing, feeling abdominal pain that can only be compared to the pain I felt during labor contractions.

My boyfriend and friend ended up carrying me to my car to take me to the ER, but on the way I took some pain relievers and by the time we got there I the pain was calming. I don’t currently have health insurance, so I convinced them to just take me back home instead.

A friend of mine told me it sounded like I had a cyst burst. I have no idea what’s going on, but I’m definitely a little freaked out. I went today to get on a new health insurance plan so I can see a doctor, but until then — any ideas??

I have a large ovarian cyst which i am having removed along with my left ovary.I do not want to go through this again.I have already had children and don’t plan having any more.Doc say if both are removed it will put me into early menopause.I just don’t want to have any more cyst.

I’ve been having some tummy pain for a while and noises coming from my it and the doctor sent me to do some tests. Today I went to do the ultrasound and pelvic one and I found out i’ve a large cyst in my left ovary. However the guy couldn’t do the vaginal test that lets you know for sure if it is a cyst -because you’ve to be sexually active as the tube they’ll stick inside you’ll break your hymen, so he couldn’t do it and of course I wouldn’t let him because i’m still a v and want to remain one till marriage. But from what he said it seems like a hemorrhagic cyst and he said it’s large, but it’ll go away on its own when it’ll rupture. Is this true and how long does it take to rupture? I feel the pain often and it’s uncomfortable. Does this also have anything to do with peeing? I drink lots of water in the first place, so i’ve always peed a lot, but recently it has increased and now when i pee it seems like my bladder’s never fully emptied, because i’ll go and a few minutes later i’ve to go pee again even though i just went. Does my frequent and never-emptied bladder have anything to do with the cyst? And when i pee i feel a sort of pressure on my lower belly. My tummy’s has been swollen for a while too and i know it’s not from food -i eat but not so much for it to well like this, like it sticks out almost like i’m a tiny bit pregnant. Should i do a second ultrasound again? I do believe the guy who did the ultrasound and do believe this’s a cyst as i’ve some of the symptoms, but i want to get a second opinion and also see if there’s anything else going on, i just have a gut feeling i should do another one. I also have a GI tract test to do to see what else’s going on with my body.

Other questions: Does masturbating mean you’re sexually active? I’ve done it, but haven’t done it in a while and don’t plan on doing it again -i’m a christian and believe it’s a sin. Stone me oi you want to, but i’ve promised myself never to do it again. The man asked me if i was sexually active before doing the vaginal test to check for the cyst when i said no he couln’t go ahead, but then i’ve been wondering if you are if masturbated. I’ve never stuck anything down there, just my middle finger on the (four-letter-word), this’s embarrassing and that’s all i’ve done. I’m still a virgin, right? Don’t laugh. Do you think the cyst has anything to do with my masturbation? Also, the last time i was doing it, not long after i started that day, i felt a really bad pain for about 5 mins in my lower belly area. I’ve never felt before. Could that have been related to the cyst? Can cysts turn harmful, and because i’ve one right now, will i be susceptible to more in the future? Will this make it hard for me to have kids in the future? I’m 22. I’ll be seeing my Doc again, i just wanted to hear from people who’ve had similar experience with cysts and anyone else who can help with some insight on these questions. I have PCOS and last night my husband and I were having sex and stopped for a second and I got this horrible pain the right side, around my ovary and my uterus. The worst part lasted about an hour, even though I am still in some pain. It was bad enough I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital.

I felt like I needed to use the bathroom but it hurts to even try, every time I sit down it hurts worse, its hard to urinate because there is alot of pressure and pain when I try to bear down in the least, when I stand up it pulls and hurts. It still aches inside, but there are sharp pains in that feel like my cervix/vagina. I am thinking it is a cyst that ruptured.

So getting to my question, has anyone ever had an ovarian cyst rupture? What were your symptoms? OR on the other end, has anyone ever had ovulation pain with PCOS this bad?
Also, I am going to the doctor, I am trying to ease my mind before then.
