My friend is having major pain in her left side. She had an ovarian cyst a few years back. She has cramping and numbness all down her left side. She went to the ER Tuesday night and they didn’t do an xray but referred her to another doctor. They kept her there longer to get her BP down because it was too high. Gave her a script for the pain and sent her home. She then went to the referral the ER gave her and all that doc did was draw blood and gave her another referral for her BP problem. On her left side down to her foot, she gets a tingly numbness. The referral doctor wants to do an ekg, kidney, liver test and etc. Does anyone know what this could be, she doesn’t seem to be getting the answers she needs.

I went for an abdominal ultrasound today – both external and internal, and guess what – surprise – happy days – she found an OVARIAN CYST!!!!!!
I cant find any decent information on the internet about this so someone please help. My symptoms were as follows: when I got out of bed yesturday I had to go to the loo – both number 1 AND hallelulia number 2’s!!! (wee’s and poo’s). But, then, I had this gripping sickening excruciating pain in my lower right side. I could barely walk and felt like vomiting and nearly passed out. – Mind you I had to get one off to school – one off to kindy – the other one to entertain all day as she is only 2 – but I had no other option but to collapse onto the bed in pain.
This pain lasted for about 2 hours or more. The pain was so severe that it was frightening. – Does this level of pain mean that the cyst is serious? Or is a cyst always this painful even if it is not at all serious? Please lend me some of your advice/answers/experiences… Thankyou so much!

4 years ago, when i was 19 i was diagnosed with 3 dermoid tumors. The tumors were romoved. Now im 23 and another cyst appeared on one ovary and it is bledding. I dont know the details on the cyst yet since i found out about it when i went to the ER. I have a doctors appointment tommorrow to get a deeper check up. I feel terrible, horrible nausea, extreamly fatigued and sluggish, horrible cramps, dizzy and weird hot flashes. i am repulsed by the view of food when i normally love to eat. im scared that this might be worse then i expect but dont want to lose my ovary since i only have one and want to be able to have children. what do you think this might be? Anyone has had these symptoms before with cysts? Can this turn into cancer?

I was diagnosed with a 6cm. hemorraghic ovarian cyst. It is extremely painful and my doctor chose to prescribe a double dose of bc pills to try to stop the uterine bleeding (I had a 3 unit blood transfusion last week having begun with a hemoglobin count of 7, normal is 12) When I asked about pain medication he prescribed a one time script of Tylenol 3. This medication was less than a week’s worth of pills and I am in constant tear jerking pain. My mother is an R.N. and she says that asking for stronger pain meds will make the doctor view me as a drug seeker and not take me seriously. I just want to be on my feet again, taking care of my son (2yrs) and getting back to work as our financial situation is precarious at best. How can I get my doctor to listen to me when I tell him that this pain is unbearable without sounding like I am just trying to obtain drugs for pleasure?

A little over a week before my period was due, i had brownish spotting on and off for about 3 or 4 days. I had my same pms symptoms as usual- cramps, bloating, and heavier breasts- but my period never came. I’ve had a sharp pain in my right lower abdomen 3 times throughout all of this. I’ve been 4 days late now, just too tight on cash to get to the doctor or even buy a pregnancy test. i’ve been searching online for answers, but there’s just so many sites that one says one thing and another says the other so i’m all mindboggled now. I’ve found that these symptoms i’m having could also be an ovarian cyst? if anyone has a good idea of what’s going on with me, it’d really be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there, I need a bit of information on something, a friend of mine is worried she might have an ovarian cyst. For about two years or so she gets her period every 2 months, it lasts 3 days and she’s in a lot of pain at that time. What could be some other causes for this cycle abnormality? What other symptoms should she check for? Thanks

Yesterday my OBGYN found a significantly large ovarian cyst… she says it’s blood filled and most likely I have endometriosis. The pain was about a 5 out of 10. She says we will check it in 6 weeks and if it’s not gone we will do surgery to remove it. Today the pain has gotten worse… probably a 7 or 8 depending on what I am doing. I am also extremely nauseaous and dizzy. It’s not a stabbing pain, so I’m not really thinking it has ruptured. It’s the same type of pain, just A LOT worse then it was yesterday. I have taken Motrin and Hydrocodone and neither one does any good. Do you think I should go to the ER?

I have PCOS, but I have been able to conceive 3 beautiful children naturally without even trying really.
A few times I have been later than normal with my period (off by 2 or 3 weeks) due to ovarian cysts.
In January I completely skipped my period, but I know that it was not due to pregnancy. My husband and I had unprotected intercourse around the time when I would have ovulated in January if I had not have skipped my period. Here it is February and no sign of a period.
I gave myself a massage on my lower abdomen and I do feel quite some tenderness on my right side (the side I normally get cysts on). But I have had other strange symptoms such as a feeling of my uterus stretching and my breasts are quite tingly. I’ve also had to urinate frequently, I don’t know if this is due to a large cyst or pregnancy though. And I have had a rather large increase in clear vaginal discharge.
So the bottom line is that I have not had a period for about 9 1/2 weeks, but I could only be at the most a little over 4 weeks pregnant. Is it possible to become pregnant if at the time of conception there is an ovarian cyst? Should I take a pregnancy test or assume that my period is not making an appearance due to the cyst?
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have been pregnant before and also have had an ovarian cyst before and they have pretty much the same symptoms to me. I have already made a doctors appointment and will be going next week but I am anticipating the wait. I have taken two home pregnancy tests and they both came back positive but the directions on the test say that ovarian cysts can also give you a postive result so Im like so anxious right now to know and I know I really have to wait until they check for a heart beat or give me an ultrasound. But any information I can get until then will help me out. I would like to be pregnant and actually acting and going about life like I am as of last wednesday. but what would you guys think about that?

pain, very mild, started saturday last week. it would come and go during the day. it was on my lower left abdomen/pelvis. then wednesday, had to pee every 30 mins with constant pain there on my lower left and would be relieved after peeing. that lasted 1/2 the day. then friday, my lower left back ached a bit when i had to pee….relieved after peeing. only happened like 3 times. now today my right is starting to hurt a little. my left has been bothering me daily every few hrs. not sure if i have a UTI, cyst or what, but i am going to doc tomorrow….any ideas? my period was 5 days early about 2 weeks ago, so doubt i am pregnant. urinating doesnt hurt or burn. also before last saturday was drinking soda, barely any water. since then, been drinking water and cranbury juice.
