I have a cyst in my ovary, ?needs removal?
I’m 15. I was having lower left abdominal pain, I was just recently being treated for a UTI and yeast infection this week, too. My doctor said he felt it and he said "it’s a pretty big, too". He told me not to do any vigorous activity, and wrote me a note for out of gym class for a month.
I’m getting an ultrasound Monday. He said sometimes ovarian cysts go away on their own, & sometimes they don’t & need surgery.
Do you think I’m gonna need surgery?

Ovarian cysts are pretty normal, I’ve had them too. They can be painful but they usually don’t require surgery. I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you. Yes it can be serious because it’s your reproductive system but you are not alone and it happens much more frequently than you’d imagine. Most women don’t even know they have cysts. I have had the weirdest thing happen to me a couple of times. I have felt them break before. I know that sounds weird but I have. It’s basically like liquid that is formed. I have felt when they break because all of a sudden I feel like this cool liquid in the area and some relief. You can also get cysts in other parts of your body. You are young you’ll be ok.
Most of the time they are "functional" or "follicular" cysts and go away on their own. You might have a heavy period coming up either this month or next, they usually resolve during your periods. Good Luck, and most likely, you will not need surgery. I get cysts on my ovaries and they go away with my period.
my sister and roommate had cysts and were put on Yaz birth control and their cysts went away without surgery. another friend of mine needed surgery. Bottom line is that cysts are very common in women and not that serious, but some need surgery to go away. It really depends on you personally. I would guess no, because birth control is extremely effective at shrinking them.
It really depends on the individual, most of them go away. I had one that didn’t so I had to have surgery. I had a really heavy period that lasted 3 months!! (I know poor me!). The surgery is not bad, its only day surgery, they sedate you and cut it out, you will be a bit sore the next few days but after a week or so you should be fine. I understand that it is a concern but there is no point in worrying about something that you can not change, hope that it goes away on its own, if it doesn’t its just another bump in the road, you will recover soon enough. Keep smiling its all wonderful
You may, or you may not. I got my first cyst when I was 13, and never had to have surgery for one until I was 17. There are different types of cysts, and some of them do go away on their own. But, just know that if you do have surgery, there is a high chance that it will be laparscopic (just tiny incisions) and it is not that painful at all. I had surgery on Monday, and was on a plane to another country on Friday. Very short recovery period, and you feel so much better afterwards!
No.
You could try supplementing with kelp or Iodoral.
