odd ovarian cyst symptom?
In the past year, I’ve had 3 very painful ovarian cysts. Last night, #4 made itself known, with the usual pain, bloating, etc. What’s weird about this one is that the pain extends up into my lower ribcage, making it very difficult to turn to that side. If I do, I feel sharp pain, to the point htat it’s hard for me to talk.
Is this sharp, rib-based pain part of the cyst or something else? I’m in a lot fo discomfort and debating going to the ER tonight or calling my OBGYN tomorrow morning and seeing if they can squeeze me in for an appointment.
I forgot to mention, in addition to going up to the rib cage, I can feel pain extending from where my rib cage hurts to my spine.

This sounds more like pain from a gallstone. It is usually higher and radiates from under your ribcage to your back. The pain can even worsen when certain foods are eaten. Usually a bland diet is recommended. Gallbladder disease is diagnosed by ultrasound. Treatment depends on the severity of your symptoms. If surgery is needed, laproscopic removal of the gallbladder is the easier procedure. I hope for your sake it is just an ovarian cyst. Follicular ovarian cysts are cyclic and reoccur often. Sometimes birth control pills can help to reduce recurrence or severity of the cysts.
