Oh Lord.. We have a hippie.
Go take some extracts to soothe your pain away.
Now, I will be serious.
I have PCOS, so I know the kind of pain you are talking about. It’s not fun at all. If I were you I would try to take some Tylenol or Ibuprofin and lay down to relax. Also try putting a hot water bottle on your ovaries.. I have found that this works. Wait a few hours, and if you are still in that much pain go to the doctor or hospital to get some pain meds. Since you are having the pain again, I’m guessing that the cyst came back, or you had another one that they didn’t know about. I think you probably need to have another ultrasound to check and see.
I hope you feel better! =)
If you’re in pain your mom should be concerned. You need a follow up ultrasound to make sure the cyst has dissolved. It doesn’t sound like it has.
Good luck.
well, i have ovarian cysts and my doctor put me on birth control pills for 10 days, then took me off to start my period in hopes that the cysts would go away–however, they didn’t (but i am 50 and i am having surgery next month to remove the cysts). my questions are: 1. have you had an ultrasound to check on the cysts since you started the birth control, 2. how old are you, 3. are you on the pill like a normal routine, on then off for a few days, then back on……if you are young and getting normal periods the cysts should go away after you have a period…..another issue you may want to consider is appendix pain and ovarian pain can sometimes get confused…i would definitely get an appointment with my doctor and have him check the cysts (they can feel them manually or can see them on ultrasound) good luck. God bless.
Birth control is the dumbest thing you can do to solve this problem. Since doctors do not understand how the body works nutritionally, they all seem to believe that the body must be deficient in a drug. Did you know that 1 in 7 women get breast cancer now. Did you know that there are no long term tests that show birth control does not contribute to that problem?
Drug companies put the synthetic ethinyl estradiol (synthetic estrogen) in the pill and it is 1,000 times more potent in its effects on breast tissue than estriol (estrogen your body makes). Studies of two decades ago clearly found that overexposure to estradiol increases one’s risk of breast cancer, whereas estriol is protective.
Synthetic ethinyl estradiol is even more of a breast cancer risk because it is efficiently absorbed by mouth and slow to be metabolized and excreted. The longer a synthetic estrogen stays in the body, the more opportunity it has to do damage. If you believe that drug companies actually care more about your health, please think again. Merck pharmaceutical company made VIOXX that killed over 160,000 people and as a result of a class action suit against the company, lawyers found internal documents from the company that showed they knew people would die and be damaged by this drug (up to 30% according to their own studies). They released the drug anyway and deceived the FDA to get it approved.
Here is a video of the BAYER pharmaceutical ( who makes aspirin for the world ) knowingly giving hemophiliacs HIV tainted drugs and how the FDA tried to cover up the problem:

These are NOT nice people and the above incidents are only the tip of the iceberg as to what is happening with drug companies today. You simply cannot trust what they say.
Please, do yourself a huge favor and deal with the PCOS problem in a nutritional way and solve the problem. Doctors use drugs and surgery as their solution to issues like this and all that does is give you "make believe health."
"Normalizing" hormones by simply giving you synthetic hormone pills violates the basic principle of healing. Instead, whenever possible, you should strive to normalize the hormones on your own. In your case, by changing your diet, you can start on the road to healing.
A diet based on the principles of "Nourishing Traditions," a book by Sally Fallon and Mary G. Enig, Ph.D. is the first step in the therapy of PCOS. Your ovaries need the animal fats, and yes, even the cholesterol found in food in order to make estrogen and progesterone, the correct female hormones.
Swollen ovaries is a condition analogous to goiter, when the thyroid swells in response to iodine deficiency. Goiters often also result in a hormonal imbalance leading to hypothyroidism. In the case of PCOS, the starvation of the ovaries causes them to become cystic, swollen and eventually unable to regulate the synthesis of their hormones.
The other main dietary trigger for this imbalance is that when the proper dietary fats are missing, they are inevitably replaced by excessive carbohydrate consumption. This results in excessive insulin production, weight gain, abdominal bloating, and eventually will itself cause hormonal shifts. The biochemistry of this process is well described in the book, "The Schwarzbein Principle" which also suggests a diet based on the principles in the book, "Nourishing Traditions," along with a restriction to about 75 grams of carbohydrates per day. More good fats and fewer carbohydrate foods should help in restoring your hormones to their proper balance.
In addition to the dietary program, there are many natural nutrients that I have been shown in the medical literature to help PCOS. The first is the protomorphogen extract from Standard Process called Symplex F. This is a mixture of specially processed glandular extracts from the four organs that make up the so-called pituitary axis–the pituitary, thyroid, adrenal glands and the ovaries. We now know that these glands compensate for each other, and that they all get ill as a group. I usually recommend taking 1-2 tablets per day for one whole year to help normalize the function of these important organs. You should be able to get the Symplex F from your local pharmacy.
The final therapy that I recommend for PCOS is a 50/50 mixture of the herbal extracts of Peony lactiflora and Glycyrrhiza uralensis (commonly known as licorice). There have been three studies in the literature showing that this combination of herbs can result in a complete remission in PCOS, and that it does so by normalizing adrenal function and reducing testosterone levels. It is important to use the correct amounts that were also indicated in these studies. I recommend the Mediherb extracts and suggest 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of the mixture, 2-3 times per day. I usually suggest using this mixture for six months with breaks of a week or two every 4-6 weeks."
The last girl I suggested this too, had complete change in acne production, her hair became normal, and she lost her oily skin in 3 weeks. Her next concern was to ask me how to get rid of the acne scars from the PCOS she had suffered with for several years. She said doctors were no help to her and she was at her wits end.
Birth control pills are the worst way to deal with PCOS. All that does is give you the "make believe health" and demonstrating very clearly that doctors have NO clue about what they are doing in regard to nutrition and how the body works in regard to nutrition that nourishes the body and does NOT abuse it with drugs.
This solution is not expensive, by the way, and you should see results in a few weeks.
EDIT: Oh my, we have a medi-nerd "want-a-be" that has arrived to educate you on what drugs to take and how that "MAKE BELIEVE HEALTH" is going to address your symptoms. Here’s an article you should be aware of that just hit the presses and the want-a-be nurse’s suggestion should be viewed with a more educated eye than just accepting the indoctrination she has been handed.
Physorg July 13, 2010 just came out with this report on some common drugs people take that are over the counter:
"Researchers … conducted a six-year observational study, evaluating 1,652 Indianapolis area African-Americans over the age of 70 who had normal cognitive function when the study began … ‘[T]aking one anticholinergic significantly increased an individual’s risk of developing mild cognitive impairment and taking two of these drugs doubled this risk.’"
Drugs commonly taken for a variety of common medical conditions negatively affect your brain, causing long term cognitive impairment. These drugs, called anticholinergics, block acetylcholine, a nervous system neurotransmitter.
They include such common over-the-counter brands as Benadryl, Dramamine, Excedrin PM, Nytol, Sominex, Tylenol PM, and Unisom. Other anticholinergic drugs, such as Paxil, Detrol, Demerol and Elavil are available only by prescription.
What a crack up, she has PCOS and is treating it with drugs and for some reason it is not going away. I wonder why?
good luck to you
I have it really bad too. What I do that helps is I stopped using plastic containers when you put hot food in there it releases estrogen. When I have pain I lay on my bathroom floor on my back I put my knees up to my chest so I cut off that vein, can’t remember what it’s called. I put a heating pad inbetween. If you don’t have one take a hair dryer and blow your ovary area. I take a shower with hot water on that area. I take a shot of dark liquor and before i stopped using plastic I would take a shot of whiskey and a vicodine and i’d be good if I laid on the floor in that position. Now I’m good if I take a tylenol extra strength and a shot. I’m sorry they suck so bad i’ve had to go to the hospital for em and ow
Advil, pamprin…. answer mine please http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjBMLSSWnP5uJFsV1hm6q0Xty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100802195823AAzqwIy
yeah never let that pain just go… i would for sure go get it checked out, especially since you have had prior problems
Why don’t you check with your doctor about this? You will begin feeling better when you get the medical attention you need.

Honey, if you think you have another cyst, you probably need to do whatever you did the first time around. Do you need to hit the ER? If you’re in enough pain the answer is yes, then go. period
Your original cyst may have dissolved, but new ones can pop up all the time. the exact same thing happened to me. i stopped feeling the pain on one side, but it hurt on the other. the ultrasound revealed that i had a bigger cyst on the other ovary! and it literally grew in like a week. you are probably fine, but if you are in that much pain, a doctor definitely needs to give you some better pain meds. i’m pretty sure mine had my on vicodin for a while
The ER doctor told me that ovarian cysts aren’t supposed to occur on birth control. Or that they aren’t supposed to hurt because you shouldn’t be ovulating. They hurt like hell and it sucks when your parents don’t seem concerned any more. I’m 21 now, but had them since I was 15. The best thing to do is find a way to manage the pain, and don’t ignore it if it gets worse. Go see a doctor. Also, though, don’t let them CT scan you. Ultrasounds and MRI’s are the safe way to look at a female abdomen. Don’t let anyone tell you different. There is no current system or laws that require doctors to document lifetime medical radiation.
i have a cyst to and birth control don’t work at all. if you are in a lot of pain you should be seen for it because it can bust or cause other health problems. i suggest you get seen as soon as possible. hope you feel better
The pain is probably annother cyst that burst. When they burst it is sooo painful. Go back and have another ultrasound done or an MRI
You should go back and see your doctor again. If you get alot of recurring cysts it could be something more wrong with you. They may need to try you on a different pill. Are you sexually active? Or it could be this even if not, but If its hurting that bad it could have ruptured. Theres really nothing they can do for that. Just wait for it to stop hurting or give you more pills. Just go see your doctor and see what else they can do. Because I know how hard it is to deal with those nasty things. It took a few different birth control pills to find the right one that really helped.
I would recommend that you check with your physician as I’ am not one, but I have a large cyst, so I understand very well.
This is a personal opinion and I will try to be as brief as possible. The top contributor is right, you might consider an alternative to taking birth control pills as they are more than likely contributing to the problems that you are experiencing with the cyst.
Another thing is to look at your diet, eliminate ALL foods, herbs and supplements that contain or has estrogen properties. Trust me on this..I added roasted sunflower seeds to my salad and my cyst is bothering me (RIGHT NOW!) so I do understand.
In addition to eliminating one of the causes, also detox your system. And look at information on a healthy liver and kidneys. Particularly the liver; you must get rid of what’s in your body that is causing you the pain and is feeding the cysts.
It’s as easy as dry brushing your skin before a shower/bath and taking psyllium (must take a FULL glass of water). It will cleanse your system. Together ..these simple and easy steps will help your body get rid of what is feeding the cyst.
Finally..castor oil packs will help relieve and dissolve the cysts. Don’t use this during your menstruation.
It’s important that you eliminate estrogen from your body. Go clean..fresh fruits, vegetables, water..no sodas, no sugar. Exercise, I was surprised at how exercising relieves the pain and suffering.
I wish you the best and hope this works for you
I have a history of ovarian cysts. I wasn’t put on birth control, although it was recommended. I was given medications to take if the pain came back, but it expired awhile ago. When my cysts pops, I’m usually going to the bathroom or just went to the bathroom – and my father is a RN and we’re able to recognize the pain and we’ve come to the conclusion that going to the hospital isn’t going to do anything but make the medical bill come up. I’d have an ultrasound done, and if you get the pains, just wait it. Trust me, I know the pain. Unfortunately, I’m much younger than you. I’m fifteen. Take some ibuprofen, and just rest. Don’t do a lot of strenuous activity, just try to take it easy.
I had the same problem until I started birth control. If you’re still having troubles I would visit your doctor and she can prescribe a new birth control with different levels of hormones to help your cysts. But whil you are in pain take ibuprofen, or whatever pain medicine you use, and then use a heating pad directly on the spot. I know its one of the WORST pains. but this will help.
Best wishes(:
Ovarian cyst may interfere with your reproductive health.
Please see the web pages for more details on the treatment of ovarian cysts.
God ignore the idiots saying "birth control" is not the right thing – they are too ignorant to realise that the contraceptive pill regulates your hormones and helps with cystic ovaries.
They are sharp pains right? Like someone is grabbing your ovary and twisting like hell?
I dont knnow – I have the same and I just put up with them – unless they get quite bad (then the cyst is likely to erupt) the pain subsides.
Go back to a gyneacologist and discuss options and you may need another ultrasound.
If your mum isnt concerned – tell her off! And get to your doc or gyn ok???
take care kiddo
ultrasound will confirm whether you have a cyst or pain due to period problems.nothing much to worry , wath for some more time.
