PCOS, ruptured ovarian cyst?
I have PCOS and last night my husband and I were having sex and stopped for a second and I got this horrible pain the right side, around my ovary and my uterus. The worst part lasted about an hour, even though I am still in some pain. It was bad enough I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital.
I felt like I needed to use the bathroom but it hurts to even try, every time I sit down it hurts worse, its hard to urinate because there is alot of pressure and pain when I try to bear down in the least, when I stand up it pulls and hurts. It still aches inside, but there are sharp pains in that feel like my cervix/vagina. I am thinking it is a cyst that ruptured.
So getting to my question, has anyone ever had an ovarian cyst rupture? What were your symptoms? OR on the other end, has anyone ever had ovulation pain with PCOS this bad?
Also, I am going to the doctor, I am trying to ease my mind before then.
Thank you all so much. All of your answers are great and made me feel alot better (not physically though LOL)… this is going to be tough one to pick the best answer.

I have PCOS as well, and your symptoms sound just like mine did. I thought it was appendicitis or something because every time I went to the bathroom I gave a little yelp in pain! It hurt when I walked, it hurt if I moved suddenly, so I ended up going to the ER because I really thought it was appendicitis or something.
They admitted me that night and I had surgery the next day because it turned out I had a rather large cyst that had attached to my ovary, and in surgery the Dr. told me he had to end up taking the ovary it had attached itself to out as well.
When I found that out, I was absolutely devastated because my husband and I were trying for 2 years to have a baby. Cut to almost 6 months to the day after my surgery and I just got a BFP! We are so ecstatic!
But seriously, if you are in that much pain like I was, and you feel you can’t wait until the Dr.’s appt, go to the ER. They will be able to examine you, and if need be do surgery to correct it. Good luck!
PCOS runs in my family. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a ruptured cyst or not. There are times where I get immense PMS pain but it’s not debilitating.
On the other hand, my cousin had a cyst that engulfed her ovary, the size of a tangerine. She was totally incapacitated. She had to have surgery. However, it did not rupture on it’s own.
I have heard of cysts rupturing and causing miscarriages and internal bleeding.
They can be quite dangerous.
Good luck to you.

"In some cases, especially when an ovarian cyst is not found early on, it can rupture. A ruptured ovarian cyst is not only extremely painful, but it can lead to serious medical problems. A ruptured ovarian cyst can have potentially life-threatening complications, such as hemorrhage and infection. If you feel you may have an ovarian cyst, it is important to have your symptoms identified as soon as possible to avoid a critical emergency situation."

"The signs and symptoms that signal the need for immediate medical attention include:
Sudden, severe abdominal or pelvic pain
Pain accompanied by fever or vomiting "
I had ruptured ovarian cysts when I was 5 weeks pregnant with my oldest and I thought I was miscarrying! It hurts extremely bad, more then just pressure. Put it this way, I was on the bathroom floor crying, but I had 3 rupture simultaneously, so that could have something to do with it. I don’t remember what it was like for going to the restroom, all i remember was that it hurt to the point I couldbarely walk, i had spots in my eyes and it huirt for weeks.
It sounds more to me that you have an ovarian cyst that hasn’t ruptures, you are constipated, have gas or have a hemmroid. Check it out though, they can tell from an ultrasound.
Sounds like you may be right.
Some other things to consider, ovulation or kidney stone.
I had an ovarian cyst rupture a couple of years ago. My symptoms were: the feeling of constipation, couldn’t urinate, fever and eventually I started throwing up green bile. There was a lot of pain in my abdomen and it would go from dull to sharp when I moved. I couldn’t sit and be comfortable and laying down didn’t help. By the time I went to the hospital, the cyst had ruptured and was over with. Good Luck
Yes, that sounds like the (two) ruptured ovarian cysts that I had.
It’s not a bad idea to go to your dr, but all I was told to do was to go home and rest until I felt better.
