Prone to ovarian cysts?
I was in a car accident 3 months ago, and my emergency room tests revealed a large ovarian cyst. Today, the ultrasound technician was astounded that the nearly 5cm cyst is completely gone; but now there’s a new one on the other ovary. She said that I’m probably prone to cysts.
How is it that cysts come and go without any treatment or intervention? Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Thank you!

I have about 4 and 5 cysts on each ovary. Always have had them. If you aren’t on birth control already…you may consider it.
It helps with an easy ovulation/may completely take ovulation away after so long and that way, the cysts are undisturbed and can heal and go away on their own. You can get cysts on your ovaries from stress, from too much caffeine, sugar glucose…it can be caused from a number of things. They can even rupture.
As long as they are benign…these things will happen and you shouldn’t worry.
Good luck!
If you don’t have pain, then don’t worry, that is quite a large on be alert for any discomfort with it.
Technicians are not supposed to tell you these things.
Ovarian cysts happen every month when you ovulate these are functional cysts as they have a job to do, and go away on their own there are a few different kinds of ovarian cysts, some cause problems some don’t. The ones that do cause pain sometimes severe pain. Just pay attention to your body’s signals and go to the doctor if it hurts severely or the pain doesn’t go away in a few days or is constant. The normal ones just feel like a twinge, the other kind can put you on your knees if you move the right way.
I’m actually experiencing Cyst problems right now…
BUT, I’ve had ovarian cysts off and on since I got my period. I’ve had laproscopy surgery done once. Cysts are very painful (at least for me).
Has your doctor put you on birth control to control the cysts? that works for most women. If your not on a pill, and prone to cysts, GET ON the pill.
Did your cyst rupture, or just go away on its own?
Best of luck!
P.S. If your in pain, and think you have another cyst, you should go to the ER. At the least they’ll give you something for the pain to get it under control.
