Should I ask about having surgery for my ovarian cyst?
how were your cysts treated? Some background- I had my right ovary removed 2 years ago due to a large borderline malignancy tumor. I am 24. I had an ultrasound 6 months ago that showed a 4cm simple cyst.
Since then, I’d been having pelvic discomfort, heavier than normal periods and cramping, constipation, dizziness, short bouts of nausea, full feeling in my abdomen and just general discomort and occasional paid there.
At my follow up with my oncologist, she ordered another ultrasound which I had today, and it showed a 6cm cyst on the ovary. The tech said it looked like it had some blood in it, but didn’t comment much on it after that other than saying I needed to call my doc and get an appointment scheduled and if I feel sharp pain in that area to go to the ER because it could have twisted.
Anyone been in this situation? How was it treated? All this is with being on the pill, by the way. Did you just wait and see, did you have surgery?

A benign cyst may only need a wedge resection with conservation of ovary as it is an only ovary. Get consultation, my best wishes! Face it boldly, life is important and really, I have all my sympathy for you.
most cysts go away once you get your period but if it does not then it is more than a cyct. I had a dermoidcystt removed 8 years ago and went on to have 3 children. It is up to your doctor weather to do surgery but if they are simple cysts then I would not go for surgery.
This should have been removed awhile ago just to prevent things like this from happening. This cyst grew from 4 to 6 cm. in just 6 months. I’m sure you know that these grow so easily into an infection that can enter your blood stream in no time at all. Sepsis is very dangerous and sometimes even fatal too. Have someone close to you drive you to the nearest ER asap and be prepared to stay and have this removed. Please remember that this isn’t anything to fool around with and too many times woman take these cysts for granted and doctor should be held accountable for not telling them just how important and dangerous they are. Be careful and safe and get to the ER now. Good luck and God Bless
