I answered your question about maternity leave, so I thought I'd check your questions to see if I could help anywhere else. I noticed your questions contradict each other. In some you say you started menopause, in others you say you're pregnant.

You also mention Tegretol, yet you're pregnant. The drug is category D, meaning you can't take it during pregnancy.

What's up, hon?

HI!

The Epilepsy Foundation of American has a great website - www.efa.org.

I have worked as an educator for people with epilepsy for many years. You may have started having seizures because your hormones have changed. I would urge you strongly to find a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy - - called an epileptologist. Many general practioners, ob-gyn types don't fully understand the realities of epilepsy, so you will have to educate yourself.

There are many other, easier to take medicines out there. Tegratol is just one and if it is the only one you have tried, you may be surprised how a different medicine will help you.

Lots of people have epilepsy - and although starting them at 41 seems odd, it really isn't. You need to get to an epileptologist and get the real story for yourself.

Look up Epilepsy Foundation in your phone book, too. There are a few offices in California and you should be able to get some good information.

BTW: I started having seizures 8 years ago at 36 as a complication to a rare form of anemia that has caused nerve damage - - I totally relate.
