What symptoms do Ovarian cysts cause?

How do you know if they are benign or cancerous? Are the symptoms the same?

Symptoms may include but not be limited to:
1) severe pain in the pelvic area
2) low grade fever (in conjunction with pain)
3) lower back pain
4) unable to stand or walk due to the pain
5) Severe PMS
I had ovarian cysts. Run in my maternal family. They only stopped giving me problems after undergoing radiation therapy for brain cancer.
The only way to determine whether or not they are benign or cancerous is through a biopsy.
